Applesauce Cinnamon Twist
Fresh homemade applesauce is easy enough for your kids to make (with a little help from a grown up).
1 cup water
1 cup raisins
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup raw sugar (optional, or to taste)
Core and chop the apples into 1 inch dice. Place in a food processor with the steel blade and chop until minced. You may need to do this is 2-3 batches.
Place all of the apples and about 2/3 cup of water in a sauce pan. Stir and cook over medium heat until the apples are soft and have released some of their liquid, about 5 minutes.
Spoon the cooked apples back into the food processor and blend until desired consistency. Place in a large bowl.
Add the additional 1/3 cup water, cinnamon and raisins. Mix thoroughly. Serve warm or cold.
This recipe can be halved or doubled.
Applesauce Cinnamon Twist keeps in the fridge in a covered container for about a week.
